Schliefer pays tribute to cane cutters, fishermen and market vendors – sometimes indirectly, through depictions of the fishermen’s boats, the market vendors’ produce.

- Canecutter. This is an early depiction of what became a recurrent theme in Schliefer’s work, that of the canecutters wielding their machetes in the cane field.
